Deep Tissue Massage
Book NowDeep Tissue Massage Adelaide
Are you stiff, sore and lacking mobility? Are you carrying a stubborn injury that doesn’t seem to be getting better? Deep tissue massage could be the therapy that you need. Deep tissue massage Adelaide by Gian Franco utilises firm, slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and tissue. This firmer pressure can help to work out knots and tension in the muscles, as well as stimulate circulation and assist with the flushing of metabolic waste to assist with a range of health concerns. This form of massage is perfect for those experiencing stiffness in the neck, tightness in the lower back, and sore shoulders. It can also ease chronic pain and helps speed recovery from sports and other injuries.
How does it work?
Chronic muscle tension or injury result in painful, rigid tissue developing in the muscles, tendons and ligaments. Known as adhesions, these can reduce circulation, cause pain and inflammation, and limit movement. Deep tissue massage Adelaide therapy works to relieve this pain and inflammation and restore normal movement by physically breaking down the adhesions.
To do this, massage therapists will often use direct, deep pressure or friction along the grain of the muscle. They may use their fingertips, knuckles, hands, elbows and even their forearms during the massage.
Conditions it can help with include:
Chronic pain in the back, neck, shoulders and hips
Limited mobility
Recovery from injuries (e.g. falls, sports injuries)
Repetitive strain injury such as carpal tunnel
Posture problems
Muscle tension or spasm

Making the most of your massage
You may be asked to breathe deeper as the particularly tense areas are massaged. The pressure level may be strong, but it shouldn’t be painful. It’s important to let your therapist know if you’re uncomfortable with their pressure. After a deep tissue massage, you can expect to feel looser and more flexible overall. You may experience the ability to move freely in areas that were previously stiff. This could be as simple as moving your head from side to side without pain.
At Gian Franco, we assess your posture/movement, investigate the underlying cause of your pain/dysfunction, deliver amazing deep tissue massage techniques where needed, and formulate a strengthening program to follow at home in order to relieve your symptoms and pain.
